Ni No Kuni is... I'm so happy about this game.  There are rare few games where I feel like I am having a world immersing experience, and Ni No Kuni is one.  The "book" has a lot to do with it.  The Wizard's Companion in Ni No Kuni is this amazing combination of instruction booklet, game world encyclopedia, and narrative focus tool that is inside the game.  It is sort of like a high quality PDF that you can flip through, zoom in, read, and navigate with ease, I wish PDF's were this quick.  There are several places where the book has a hand drawn look to it, but if you zoom in to the area, it will turn into "in game" graphics, like for the creatures.  You unlock new stories, fables and area of the book as you play, and it really feels like something Ollie(the main character) would pull out and go "hmm, what is this thing?" and look it up.  The game is magical and I'm loving it.

I do really try not to do things like take joy in someone's misery, or bring the stuff the internet annoys me about into my blogs, but I want to say some things.  You see, these "social justice" people that have lately taken over and gotten all their friends working on video game "journalism" sites really annoy the piss out of me.  They are literally the same thing as preachers from 60 years ago.  They are yelling their morality and why you are wrong for not following it.  They will argue "but our morality is right!" and it just sounds more and more like evangelists.  Well, like preachers, when you bring your social life and telling people how to live to the forefront of what makes you a person, that part of your life becomes public knowledge.  There is no "that's his personal life, we should leave him alone about it" cover for these people because THEIR business IS the policing of personal life.  You can not preach about ethics and morality for a living and then when you're caught doing something like exchanging favorable press for sex, say "that's my personal life, stay out of it" and continue making a living being a morality preacher.  Where does my satisfaction come in to play?  Well the guy caught doing this is the same guy that was so outraged at Penny Arcade's artist's immature joke antics that he convinced my favorite video game news site to protest their show, PAX.  "CAST OUT THE HEATHENS!" is all I heard from his post.  For 2 years I have not visited the site.  Well now he's caught with his pants literally down and now all i hear is "I have sinned!"

It is still blowing my mind that Lodoss War is only 13 episodes long.  Even while we are watching it, it seems like it is so much more epic than small, less than 30 minute episodes.  If you are a fan of fantasy and have never seen it, then do yourself a favor and get ahold of it somehow.  The voice acting is some of the best for its era.  It has a lot of that talent that voice acted in Thundercats, which I realized and now can't get their faces out of my head when their Lodoss War characters are talking lol.   I personally can't stand the Japanese dub... I guess I'm uncultured.  But yea... wizards, witches, some of the most kickass dragons ever shown on a screen, magical swords forged against each other, and a wise cracking thief that I actually enjoyed(i'm notorious for not liking the thief/rogue class in general).  And its only 13x30minute episodes long, less if you cut out the into and outtro.
