Weekend update 11th of Thrimidge 2014

The Weekend of the 11th of Thrimidge

So one of the largest "F' U" fingers ever flicked at a fandom was the refusal to change Star Trek: Enterprise's theme music.  I feel that for a lot of people, this music did not feel like Trek and many that would have given the show a large viewership was just as turned off by this Rod Stewart wannabe as would have if Britney Spears opened the show.  I'm on Season 3 now, and one of the ways they got a letter campaign was talk about changing the show, particularly the opening.  I remember at the time, talk on the net about how "they were going to change the beginning".  Then after a few weeks it was "they're taking out the lyrics and just having the music" and then "well they're changing it" a few weeks after that.  Then the show opens in Season 3, and low and behold.. its a sped up version of the same shitty song.  How is Season 3 shaping up?  I'll talk about it when I get a little deeper through it.

All weekend I focused playing guitar in the style of Hendrix.  Playing-wise he's probably the largest influence on me.  I learned his favorite inverted chord thing he does a long while ago, chopped the top off it and have used it to get that bluesy slide from almost day one.  Well I focused on getting a few more of his tiny tricks, particularly those he used in The Wind Cries Mary.  The seasons are changing, and I have not play a ton of guitar outside of Winter and our unusually mild beginning to Spring, but I'm getting these weird finger "pains".. well more like irritations.  On my right hand the pick is scraping my fingers at the joint like it never has before.  On my left hand, the strings are rubbing the skin between my first two joints on my pointer finger.  Its so weird that this is new, I haven't changed technique or anything.  So far no blisters... but it feels like it could lead in that direction.

Had a really good "hamburger helper" or "casserole" or however you'd describe it.  My girlfriend came up with it.  We have discovered the wonders of using cauliflower in the place of starchy things like potatoes or high calorie things like pasta.  Cauliflower Fried Rice is amazing as is Mashed Cauliflower.  Anyway, the new thing was a sort of chili-mac, only instead of ground beef we had ground turkey(of which I'm a fan).  Instead of having macaroni we had chunks of cauliflower, and instead of so much cheese we had Greek Yogurt with some velveeta in it.  That's something you all should try regardless of what you're plans are; greek yogurt in anything cheese makes this super creamy extra good cheese sauce.  Anyway, it was great.

Started the last season of the 10th Doctor's run on Doctor Who.  I know that when 9th(Eccelston) left I was not sure I would like David Tennant.  He had a horrible transition and a bad first impression, but oh I grew to like him.  The season with Martha Jones was amazing and I realized that the series was "good", not just "good because its Dr Who", but could be Star Trek Next Gen Season 3 good.  I'm going to miss Tennant when he goes, but I know I need to give Matt Smith the benefit of the doubt, just like with Tennant, and I'm sure I'll grow to appreciate him.

Things for this week... you know I don't know if I've got a review of Fairy Tale up?  I should look back to before I started this more weekly blog and see if I do.  Its a fun game and I really enjoy it.  I'm sure I"ll have Enterprise updates in the dailies, as well as my thoughts on the next books I want to read.  I'm torn between starting a series or doing the next on my list of "great one shot" novels.
